Accounts Payable Assistant - Seedway, LLC - Hall, NY

 

SEEDWAY, LLC is headquartered in Hall, New York and currently employs 280 employees (including seasonal workers) nationwide. SEEDWAY is part of the GROWMARK system, an agricultural subsidiary serving more than 100,000 customers across North America, Canada, and Mexico. SEEDWAY, LLC is a full-line seed company providing high quality, high-performing farm seed products as well as lawn and turf products throughout Pennsylvania, New York, New England states, Florida, and South Carolina. We offer a leading line of vegetable seed for growers in the United States and Eastern Canada.

SALARY RANGE:  $16 - $18 per hour

 

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

Performs clerical and accounting duties, according to accepted accounting standards.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Issues prompt and correct payments. Ensures the timely processing of invoices and credits to maximize available discounts and minimize additional service charges.

Verifies and corrects vendor data, payments, invoices, credits and discount terms, including verifying invoices to reflect the appropriate sales tax amount prior to entering data into the computer.

Communicates in a professional manner with staff and vendors regarding missing documentation, approvals, pricing or any other discrepancies. Communicates with Department/Location Managers regarding invoices coming due to obtain approval of product and expense invoices.

Completes supplier reconciliations on a monthly basis and resolves vendor issues. Enters new vendors into the system and updates information in the master files as needed.

Maintains efficient and up-to-date manual and automated filing system and completes general office procedures.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Cross train and serve as a backup for various other accounts payable duties.

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Normally requires an Associate’s Degree in accounting, or the equivalent thereof, and prior related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of basic accounting functions and technical proficiency with software.

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
