PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Safety Intern will support Evergreen FS’s safety, maintenance, and operational improvement initiatives for the Summer of 2027. This internship provides hands-on experience with asset management, preventive maintenance programs, digital inspections, and operational technology systems that help improve safety, equipment reliability, and overall efficiency.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist with routine safety inspections and workplace safety audits to help maintain a safe work environment.
Support safety documentation, inspection records, and maintenance tracking activities.
Help ensure equipment, facilities, and vehicles are maintained in accordance with company safety standards.
Assist with preventive maintenance programs and safety-related reporting.
Participate in hazard identification, incident prevention, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support the development and delivery of safety training materials and employee communications.
Observe and document safety practices, identifying opportunities to improve compliance and awareness.
Travel to company locations to support safety, maintenance, and operational improvement projects.
Gain exposure to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs and regulatory requirements.
Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be pursuing a degree or certification from a community college, technical college or university and in good academic standing at time the internship begins, with preferred candidates going into their first or second year of college at the time of the internship.
Interest in safety, maintenance, operations, technology, or process improvement.
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel independently and overnight as needed.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:
Participates in all Exploring Agriculture Internship Program activities.
Ability to work a minimum of 9-10 weeks over the Spring or Summer season.
Attends one required GROWMARK internship event:
- May 17-18, 2027: Orientation Meeting (Bloomington, IL)
Submits weekly activity reports.
Focuses on an operational project to improve efficiencies for the business.
