Sr. Dairy Nutritionist - Insight FS - Brandon, WI

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

Under the direction of the Feed Marketing Manager, assists in leading the nutritional team on mid to large dairy business plan, implementing dairy marketing plan and exceeding annual budget sales growth and department income.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Responsible for conducting dairy nutrition calls and making calls with team on key targeted dairy farms and Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) master list.

 

Controlling nutrition on leading key dairies and CAFO dairy herds.

 

Provide a strategic focus on growth of controlled nutrition prospects.

 

Assists with the design and implementation of company goals and objectives focusing on growth of the dairy nutrition business and develop profitable relationships with dairy customers.

 

Leads and implements development plan for dairy nutrition team.

 

Supports Feed Marketing Manager to develop and implement dairy sales/marketing strategies including programs and pricing that generate profitable sales.

 

Participates in selected sales activities, i.e. customer meetings, trade shows, sales meeting to remain aware of dairy industry trends and dairy environment to provide competitive edge for Insight FS and customers.

 

Partners with other Insight FS dairy nutritionist to develop recommendations to ensure appropriate dairy nutritional needs are met and make proper recommendations to improve and increase customer satisfaction.

 

Effectively communicates sales activities with Feed Marketing Manager to help develop directions for the Insight FS Animal Nutrition Team.

 

Maintains a current knowledge of product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, product pricing, advertising, and promotional trends.

 

Develops vendor relationships and shares appropriate information and effectively communicates with vendors to ensure the animal nutrition team has the tools and training necessary to conduct nutritionally sound, profitable sales.

 

Completes and maintains a competitive analysis for all key competitors and assists in developing short and long-term strategies to grow the animal nutrition business.

 

Identifies progressive dairy customers and coordinates the sharing of these lists with energy, agronomy, and grain sales representatives.

 

Quotes prices, and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained, and promotes the use of credit programs as a sales tool and helps provide the required information to establish credit.

 

Completes all reports as required.

 

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Maintains industry and university contacts to keep informed on developing trends and product introductions in assigned product areas.

 

Creates and participates in presentations during customer meetings and trades shows as required.

 

Responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle according to company standards.

 

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

 

Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Normally requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, marketing, or other related discipline and a minimum of 4 years Dairy nutrition selling experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience to demonstrate strong reasoning ability to solve practical problems and handle customer and/or operational issues.

 

Demonstrated GROWMARK core competencies including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making, and skill development.

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

 

Must be able to travel independently and overnight.

 

Must be willing to work hours beyond those considered “normal”.

           

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
