SALARY RANGE: $20-$24 / hour  

 

 

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

The Commercial Propane Cylinder Delivery Specialist is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of propane cylinders to our commercial and industrial partners. This role focuses on maintaining scheduled routes, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring all safety and regulatory standards are met during refilling, loading, transportation and exchange.  Responsible for the operation of the on-site propane refill station and servicing walk in customers.  Assists in support of the propane/energy service team. Supports facility maintenance and assists the propane sales delivery team.  Provides excellent customer service in a timely and accurate manner to increase customer satisfaction and maintain the reputation and profitability of the organization. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Route Delivery & Exchange: Safely operate a delivery truck to transport filled propane cylinders to customer sites daily, exchanging them for empty cylinders.
  • Cylinder Handling: Physically load and unload cylinders (often 33 – 50 lb.) tanks and secure them properly on the vehicle.
  • Customer Interaction: Serve as the face of the company, professionally addressing customer inquiries and ensuring their storage cages are accessible and organized.
  • Safety & Compliance: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Adhere to all DOT, OSHA, and company safety protocols for handling propane materials.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate delivery logs, invoices, and shipping papers using handheld mobile devices or paper tickets.
  • Ensure that all sales tickets are completed, signed and submitted accurately to ensure all tickets are processed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain location & truck inventory levels and have knowledge and understanding of all parts, part numbers and part descriptions.
  • Equipment Care: Ensure the delivery vehicle and equipment (hoses, valves, restraints) are clean and in good working condition, reporting any maintenance needs immediately.
  • Support the propane sales delivery team with bulk propane deliveries to residential and commercial accounts. 
  • Location lead for customer tank & cylinder propane refills at the physical location during set hours.
  • Support customer service work instructed by service manager to exceed customer’s satisfaction.
  • Take pride in the Centralia propane location and lead in site maintenance.
  • Must perform moderate to heavy physical activities in all weather conditions. Frequently lift 50+ lb propane cylinders safely.
  • Collaborate with propane area manager and propane sales delivery team in an effort to generate additional, profitable sales throughout the year
  • Maintain safe working environment and upon completion of day’s work ensure job site is clean and clear of debris.
  • Maintains company vehicle, performs basic maintenance as needed.
  • Adheres to the company Uniform Policy and maintains the appropriate professional image.
  • Successfully adhere to safety rules and company policies and procedures.  EHS, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures must be adhered to at all times.

REQUIREMENTS

Normally requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years or more of experience to demonstrate strong reasoning ability to solve practical problems and handle customer inquiries and concerns.  Must be able to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat endorsement.  Must be able to obtain and maintain PEP certification.

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law.  In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and commissions.
