Grain Marketing Assistant                                       

 

Pay Range: $16.00 - $23.00 hourly

Compensation is based on prior experience, relevant skills, and job-related qualifications.

 

Shipping grain to the far reaches of the Globe, helping to Feed the World. PCC is a highly successful grain business with unit train and country elevator locations.  Located just a few miles from both Bloomington-Normal and Pontiac, Illinois. 

 

                                   

Reports To: Relationship Manager

Position Responsibilities

The Grain Marketing Assistant will include grain marketing, clerical tasks, scale operations, customer service, communications and other duties as assigned. 

Grain Marketing

  •  Handle phone calls and walk in traffic from patrons to communicate and provide information regarding our company grain policies and procedures
  • Update daily grain bids
  • Provide cash, basis, minimum price, hedge to arrive or other specific contracts offered by PCC
  • Enter grain purchase contracts efficiently and accurately into the accounting system
  • Provide grain dump hours, transportation or market updates
  • Maintain and develop the customer base through phone calls, emails, walk in traffic, etc.

Clerical Tasks

  • Apply, process and settle grain-scale tickets. Enter contracts, pricings, amendments, or other on-going reporting matters
  • Assist on any grain applications, settlements and payment inquiries
  • Handle correspondence, filing, and miscellaneous clerical work as time permits or as assigned
  • Maintain office equipment and keep the work area neat and clean
  • Maintain website, email, text messages to update patrons with current and relevant information pertaining to PCC.

Scale Operations

  • Properly identify the correct commodity, customer and delivery sheet for entry into the scale interface system
  • Properly weigh each scale ticket on every load delivered/shipped by the grain elevator
  • Properly grade each grain sample and enter correctly into scale interface system

Customer Service

  • Assist customers as needed with any grain purchases and grain settlements
  • Promptly report complaints and compliments to the appropriate manager
  • Greet each customer with a friendly smile and a hello
  • Always remember to thank customers for their business
  • Actively develop professional development skills and knowledge
  • Promote customers understanding of and participation in the cooperative
  • Maintain confidentiality with all customer information and data

Communications

  • Answer the telephone in a courteous and professional manner with no complaints
  • Route telephone calls to the appropriate person and take accurate phone messages and forward to the appropriate individual

Other Duties

  • Uphold all cooperative policies
  • Perform duties as assigned
