Animal Nutrition Sales/Marketing Specialist - Insight FS - Darlington, WI

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Responsible for sales of all animal nutrition and feed products/services, within an assigned territory, working closely with the Sales Manager and Sales Specialists to achieve marketing team goals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible for conducting animal nutrition sales calls with targeted customers, as well as assist species specialists with key account calls.
Implements company goals and objectives that will grow the animal nutrition business and develop profitable relationships with customers.
Provides leadership for the development and implementation of all animal nutrition training and feed team support needs.
Provide assistance with development and implementation of feed sales/marketing strategies that generate profitable sales.
Develops and implements innovative sales programs and pricing strategies.
Participates in selected sales activities, i.e. customer meetings, trade shows, sales meeting to keep abreast of sales trends and sales environment.
Creates and manages a whole farm proposal by providing value-added animal nutrition products, services, and recommendations on a frequent basis.
Expedites the resolution of customer problems and complaints.
Coaches and trains other species specialists to develop recommendations to ensure appropriate nutritional needs are met and make proper recommendations to improve and increase customer satisfaction.
Maintains accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities and effectively communicates sales activities with sales management in all related departments.
Maintains a current knowledge of product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, product pricing, advertising, and promotional trends
Develops vendor relationships and shares appropriate information and effectively communicates with vendors to ensure the animal nutrition team has the tools and training necessary to conduct nutritionally sound, profitable sales.
Completes and maintains a competitive analysis for all key competitors and assists in developing short and long-term strategies to grow the animal nutrition business.
Identifies progressive customers and coordinates the sharing of these lists with energy, agronomy, and grain sales representatives.
Quotes prices, and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained, and promotes the use of credit programs as a sales tool and helps provide the required information to establish credit.
Completes all reports as required.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintains industry and university contacts to keep informed on developing trends and product introductions in assigned product areas.
Creates and participates in presentations during customer meetings and trades shows as required.
Responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle according to company standards.
Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Normally requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture, marketing, or other related discipline and a minimum of 4 years animal nutrition selling experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience to demonstrate strong reasoning ability to solve practical problems and handle customer and/or operational issues.
Demonstrated GROWMARK core competencies including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making, and skill development.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Must be able to travel independently and overnight.
Must be willing to work hours beyond those considered “normal”.
Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
