PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Responsible for procurement, scheduling, delivery and pricing of all plant food, crop protection, and seed. Maintains an adequate working inventory of products to meet company and customer needs.
SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP
Supervises and develops the Agronomy Support Specialist positions through setting performance expectations, actively maintaining performance management standards, and managing supervisory expectations to maximize growth, profitability and customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Effectively monitor product inventory, demand, usage, and transfers to maintain an acceptable working inventory. Strives to optimize or minimize inventories according to seasonal demands.
Collaborate with agronomy team to strategically develop a purchasing plan for plant food, crop protection, and seed based on markets, history, budget, season, and other variables.
Negotiate vendor contracts and pricing.
Reconcile vendor contracts.
Maintain current price sheet of plant food, crop protection, and seed products to optimize company profitability.
Order products and confirm the item is in the accounting system.
Lead seed ordering and end of season reconciliation.
Lead ariel application scheduling.
Oversee delivery of products including directing product logistics and distribution to intended destination.
Routinely communicate with managers and crop specialist to determine product needs, inventories, and transfers to maintain an adequate supply.
Manage inventories and identify products that need to be added or discontinued.
Maintains computerized records of orders and shipments, including the previous years.
Compile information to report to vendors.
Communicate with vendors on rebates and program dollars.
Perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to: photocopying, faxing, mailing and filing.
Answer phones and assist vendors with account questions.
Support staff in assigned project based work.
Ability to work independently, with fellow employees and other locations.
Ability to work extended hours and on-call as business conditions warrant.
Exercise initiative or, as directed, perform additional duties to meet the needs of the organization.

Education and/or Experience
Knowledge of standardized rules, procedures or operations requiring considerable training and experience to perform the full range of standard assignments and resolve reoccurring problems. Associates Degree plus 1 – 3 years of prior experience.

Responsible for own work only; some direct or indirect control over expenses and revenue generation; may make some budgetary recommendations; accountable for results of own work.

Physical Demands
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work.
