Grain Branch Manager - Legacy Farmers Cooperative - Fostoria, OH

REPORTS TO: Grain Manager

LOCATION: Fostoria, OH



Responsible for overall operations of the Fostoria branch including personnel, equipment, accounting, inventory and customer service.



Essential Functions of the Job:


Outstanding customer service including help with grain origination and being a Legacy team member


Supervising branch employees, and adhering to company policies.  This includes labor expense control, budgeting, operational efficiency, project management, etc


Prepare facility project analysis including the financial plan and ROI projections


Equipment, building and ground maintenance, and expense control of related repairs


Efficient movement of grain through the facility


Keeping stored grain in condition, including weekly reading of temperature cables


Working with Grain Manager in planning logistics and other grain related issues


Blending outbound grain to maximize profitability


Maintain attitude that promotes teamwork within the cooperative and a favorable image of the cooperative


Accuracy of accounting at the branch including grain tickets, purchase orders, receiving reports and monthly inventories


Accurately weighing, sampling and grading inbound grain and accuracy of outbound weights


Segregating of different qualities of inbound grain as much as physically possible


Possess flexibility and adaptability in meeting constraints and demands


This position requires a full range of body motion including bending, climbing and twisting.  Will also be working outside to inspect the facility




High school graduate with additional business/agricultural background


Working knowledge of ag business and 5 years management experience in the grain elevator industry preferred


Responsible for equipment assigned, such as truck


Proof of and maintaining a safe driving record is a condition of employment and will be monitored by LFC’s insurance provider


Self-motivated and ability to work well with others and independently


Required to uphold all of LFC’s Company, Credit and Safety policies


Ability to adapt to and work longer and/or varied hours during busy season as the needs of the business dictate


Customer-service focused


Strong interpersonal and verbal communications skills  


Work with Safety & Security Director to manage our risks


Follow company grain marketing policy and guidelines


Help to develop and implement programs and origination tools to establish Legacy Farmers Cooperative as the customers’ preferred grain marketer


Establish goals to attain growth in business as well as work as a team to enhance our efficiency to our customers


Miscellaneous Information & Preferred Experience:


Minimal overnight travel


Standard work week is Monday through Friday; needs of the business may dictate exceptions to this standard

Good computer skills


Possesses flexibility and adaptability in meeting constraints and demands
