General Laborer – Job Description

Job Type: Full-Time
Wage Range: $18–$22 per hour, based on experience

 

Position Overview

The General Laborer supports the successful daily operations of the Pearl City facility. This role requires strong communication, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to take ownership of operational tasks. While the position provides leadership in workflow and coordination, it does not include supervisory or managerial responsibilities.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Safely lift, move, and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Operate forklifts; must be forklift certified or willing to obtain certification
  • Hold a Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements, or be willing to obtain required endorsements within a specified timeframe
  • Fill and handle anhydrous ammonia (NH₃) tanks in compliance with all safety regulations; must be willing to complete required training Assist with inventory management, including helping maintain accurate product counts and reporting discrepancies, assist with ordering as directed.
  • Provide excellent customer service to customer.
  • Learn and assist with basic merchant functions, including grain or product handling processes
  • Perform routine facility maintenance and housekeeping, including but not limited to:
    • Checking fire extinguishers, assisting with maintenance of NH₃ tanks, pumping out dikes, sweeping warehouse floors and maintaining clean work areas
  • Maintain compliance with all safety policies and procedures
  • Assist with other duties as assigned to support overall location operation.
  • Communicate effectively with the BVC team, plant operations staff, and manage
  • Assess situations, identify issues, and respond promptly and effectively to resolve operational challenges.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment for all Stephenson Service team members.
  • Perform operational tasks including:
    • Mixing chemicals
    • Grain handling
    • General plant maintenance
  • Utilize computer programs such as Excel, Word, and Merchant Ag to manage product and inventory data accurately.
  • Take ownership of assigned plant responsibilities and ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Ability to work safely in an agricultural and industrial environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn new tasks and cross-train in multiple operational areas
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic maintenance skills preferred

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law.  In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and commissions.
