REPORTS TO: Energy Service Manager                                                                                                           STATUS: Exempt

 

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Under the direction of the Energy Service Manager, the service technician will both lead and assist in the installation and repair of propane and fuel systems in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. Provides excellent customer service to all farm, residential, and commercial customers.

Requirement: Energy Service Technician must obtain CTEP certification from the Illinois or Missouri Propane Gas Association within 3 months of employment. Servicemen must live within the geography assigned when employment opportunity is presented.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • First and foremost, the Service Technician will provide safe installations of systems for the company's customers. All propane systems will be installed following the NFPA 54 and 58.
  • Handles all complaints promptly.
  • Performs service-related propane and refined fuel installations.
  • Replaces outdated propane regulators at customers’ homes or places of business.
  • Collects accounts from customers and records transactions on work orders.
  • Performs general maintenance and upkeep of assigned retail location(s).
  • Prepares lease agreements, order forms, and work orders.
  • Be informed of all billing programs available.
  • Obtains customer signatures on all work orders when the customer is available.
  • Completes regular activity reports.
  • Maintains company equipment according to company standards and performs routine maintenance on the equipment.
  • Adheres to the uniform policy, and maintains the appropriate professional image.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Will substitute for propane and petroleum salesmen as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Educations and Experience

Normally requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years or more of work experience to demonstrate strong reasoning ability to solve practical problems and handle customer inquiries and all safety concerns.

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat endorsement.
  • Must maintain or have the ability to acquire and maintain CTEP certification. Will also complete continuing education/training.
  • Demonstrated essential abilities, including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision-making, and skill development.
  • Demonstrated planning, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to travel independently and overnight.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Must be willing to work or be on call hours beyond those considered “normal."
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, sit, stand, crawl, climb, and reach difficult areas as the job demands.
  • Frequently exposed to extreme weather conditions. Working conditions may occasionally include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures.
  • Must pass a pre-hire drug and alcohol test and enroll in the company's random drug and alcohol testing program.
