PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

Responsible for promoting, selling, and delivering liquid propane (LP) products to residential, farm, and designated commercial customers within an assigned territory. Develops and maintains strong customer relationships through prospecting, sales calls, and service support while ensuring safe and timely product delivery in accordance with company policies and the direction of the Energy Manager.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Conducts sales calls and customer visits to residential, farm, and commercial accounts to promote and sell LP products and related services.

 

Develops and maintains prospect lists and target accounts, follows up on leads, and maximizes territory growth through regular customer engagement.

 

Conducts sales interviews, communicates marketing programs and promotions, and promotes the full line of company products and services, including financing options such as Agri-Finance.

 

Safely delivers propane and related products to customer locations, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards, and coordinates with dispatch and operations staff for timely service.

 

Maintains technical knowledge of propane products, equipment, and industry developments to provide informed product guidance and support.

 

Adheres to company credit policies, verifies customer credit, collects accounts as necessary, and promptly resolves customer concerns or complaints.

 

Performs follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction, records sales and delivery activities accurately, and maintains company vehicles, equipment, and property according to standards.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Develops and maintains relationships with agricultural organizations, community groups, and other industry contacts within the territory.

 

Maintains awareness of competitive activities and market conditions within the assigned territory.

 

Submits reports and sales activity updates as requested by management.

 

Cooperates with other sales and operations personnel to promote a professional company image and support overall business objectives.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Normally requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years or more of sales experience to demonstrate strong reasoning ability to solve practical problems and handle customer inquiries and concerns.

 

Demonstrated essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

 

Must have and maintain a valid CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements, be insurable to operate required vehicles, and have the ability to travel independently.

 

Must pass and maintain all required DOT physical and drug testing requirements.

 

Must be willing to work hours beyond those considered “normal.”

 

Frequently exposed to extreme weather conditions. Working conditions may occasionally include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures.

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law.  In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and commissions.
