Retail Business Manager - Insight FS - Jefferson, WI
Insight FS is headquartered in Jefferson, Wisconsin with 23 branches across the state and upper peninsula of Michigan. Insight FS has 430+ employees (including seasonal workers) and approximately 50,000 customers. The cooperative does business in agronomy, agri-finance, precision agriculture, nutrient management, energy, feed, grain, and turf. PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Under the direction of the Retail Division Manager, in conjunction with the Director of Retail Accounting, is responsible for providing analysis, information and data that supports the long-term decisions and strategy for driving profitability of the retail division. Provides day to day support to the retail employees, programs, customers and procedures to ensure efficient and profitable operations.
SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP
Supervises leads and develops administrative, customer service, finance, technology, and accounting employees. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Functions as a liaison with the corporate accounting team and the retail business to review, develop and administer appropriate accounting procedures at the retail division. Provides guidance and leadership to the retail office staff to ensure consistent administration of policies and procedures. Makes use of technology driven processes within the organization to optimize efficiency and timeliness of data.
Provides direction, controls and makes recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
Manages the processes and leads Management Staff in the preparation and tracking of the annual financial and capital budget. Tracks and facilitates AFE/ASD projects and capitalization of assets from construction in progress.
Ensure inventory is maintained accurately and company procedures are followed. Responsible for administering the periodic review and monitoring of the inventory observation process. Facilitates activities with the on-site retail management team and the observation team to capture inventory data for review and analysis. Troubleshoots and resolves inventory and shrink discrepancies.
Presents financial results to the Board of Directors, Senior Leadership Team, and employee groups.
Evaluates mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions and insurance activities for the company.
Ensures that effective internal controls are in place and ensures compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws as well as GROWMARK policies for financial, capital and tax reporting.
Analyzes appropriate accruals to ensure adequate reserves are recorded for crop claims, credit risk, and vendor rebates and patronage.
Oversees the IT function including development of capital needs and identification and analysis of technology to enhance efficiency and profitability of the company.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.
Oversees the issuance of all financial information, including personal review and approval of monthly and annual financial statement.
Oversees the payroll function in conjunction with the Growmark Retail Accounting team and HR.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Normally requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance and at least 6 years experience in accounting or finance, or the equivalent thereof, to demonstrate financial leadership in the areas of risk analysis, cost/benefit analysis, internal controls, auditing, and budgeting.
A CPA and/or MBA are preferred, along with demonstrated team leadership.
Demonstrated essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Must be able to travel independently and overnight as needed.
Must be able to work hours beyond those considered normal to meet seasonal demands.
Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
