Grain Systems Construction Specialist
REPORTS TO: Structures STATUS: Non-Exempt
The Grain Systems Construction Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading the construction, maintenance, repair, and improvement of company-owned facilities and structures across multiple locations. This position oversees daily work activities, assigns projects, ensures compliance with company safety standards, and performs skilled maintenance and construction work.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Lead, schedule, and coordinate the daily activities of the Structures team.
- Assign work priorities based on operational needs, emergencies, preventive maintenance schedules, and capital improvement projects.
- Train, mentor, and provide guidance to maintenance personnel while promoting accountability and teamwork.
- Monitor project progress to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
- Assist employees by providing recommendations regarding staffing, training, and development.
- Coordinate work with the department manager to minimize operational disruptions.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, forklifts, skid steers, aerial lifts, telehandlers, and other construction equipment safely.
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities and structures to identify repair needs before failures occur.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and structural repairs as needed.
- Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Conduct job site safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, equipment, and replacement parts.
- Inspect, maintain, and coordinate repairs of company maintenance vehicles and equipment.
- Ensure tools and equipment are stored properly and maintained in safe operating condition.
- Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, work orders, and project documentation.

REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required, or an associate degree or technical certification in construction, building maintenance, carpentry, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in commercial, agricultural, or industrial construction and facility maintenance.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, concrete, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret project specifications.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining equipment and machinery.

Other Requirements
- Obtain a valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with required endorsements (e.g., HazMat, Tanker) within six months of employment and maintain a clean driving record.

- Ability to work hours other than those considered normal at various times throughout the year to meet deadlines and demands.
- The role may require occasional travel to other company locations or industry events, with the ability to travel independently and stay overnight as needed.
