Grain Operations Manager - Burtonview Farmers Cooperative - Lincoln, IL

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

Under the direction of the General Manager, this position is responsible for the receiving and loading of grain in a safe and profitable manner.  This person will perform duties that maximize the operating efficiency at the location and profitability of the company. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Maintains positive customer relations at what is typically the first point of contact with the producer. 

 

Manages the full time and seasonal employees in the Operations department.

 

Actions and personal appearance project a favorable image of the company.   

 

Understands grain quality and grain conditioning.  Utilizes best management practices for inventory control. 

 

Responsible for the safe and efficient use of material and machines. 

 

Responsible for maintaining equipment, facilities and other company assets in a safe, neat and professional manner. 

 

Responsible for loading and unloading activities at the elevator. 

 

Performs proper grain grading and blending practices. 

 

Assists in maintaining records and reports necessary to comply with government requirements. 

 

Assists in operational expense control such as people and maintenance cost. 

 

Supports, and complies with all company policies, procedures, goals and objectives. 

 

 

OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Ability to answer the phone and greet walk-in customers. 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Typically requires a two-year associate degree in agriculture, three years of related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. 

 

Ability to work extended hours during harvest and other high grain shipment periods of the year. 

 

Ability to operate corn dryers.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Ability to work hours other than those considered normal to meet seasonal demands. 

 

Outdoor conditions with extremes in seasonal weather patterns. 

 

May included wet or snow-covered surfaces.   

 

Must have the ability to climb ladders in order to inspect handling equipment and grain inventory. 

 

Ability to work at elevated heights.

 

Ability to lift 70 pounds as needed.
