HIRING MANAGER: Allan Scott

LOCATION: Lucknow, ON

Purpose and Summary Statement:

 

Use Co-op supported products, such as, plant food, seed, crop protection, plant health, soil sampling, custom application, and other related services to achieve sales with a set customer base.

 

Provides a level of sales achievement, which allows the Co-op to meet its overall sales objectives. Aids other departments as required to give the highest customer service essential for overall sales growth within the Lucknow CO-OP INC.

 

Principle Responsibilities:
 

  • Achieves objective(s) and plan(s) for assigned customers.
  • Scouting and recommendations, proper custom application information, and follow-up for assigned customers.
  • Develops crop plan(s) for assigned customers in conjunction with the Agronomy Manager.
  • Maintains records and reports as directed by the Agronomy Manager within company policy.
  • Adheres to Company policies in all areas, e.g. safety, credit, proper management of assets, pricing, uniforms, etc.
  • Special pricing of crop products which differs from price list in conjunction with Agronomy Manager.
  • Report estimated product usage through field plans and customer intentions with Agronomy Manager.
  • Coordinate & Report daily, weekly, monthly targets and objectives with Agronomy Manager.

 

Certain tasks need to be done in order for the incumbent to be successful in this job.  The following are some of the items, which will be required of the incumbent on a regular basis:

 

  • Weekly itinerary - detail to include current and potential customers, meetings, etc.
  • Customer files updated weekly with proper and current data
  • Customer Complaints - writing; these must also be communicated verbally to the Agronomy Manager within 24 hours after receiving the complaint.
  • Customer Prospect(s) List - to be submitted monthly as directed.
  • Work related Expense - submitted monthly as directed.

 

Quarterly Action Plan – this will be a thought-out process prior to commencement of next quarter.  The plan is to include: Tactics & Timing, e.g. Regular Farm Calls, Newsletter timing & content, Patron meeting & content, Trade Show attendance, Marketing Trends, Training to be provided to Company store, Training requirements of the incumbent, Top Ten Farm prospects & sales strategy, competition Targeting, i.e. targeting business opportunities. Report to the Agronomy Manager your planned activities relating to the above prior to each quarter.

 

Understands and follows Lucknow health & safely and environmental policies and procedures.

 

 

 

 

Other Job Functions

 

Responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle according to company standards, follows all smoking policies, adheres to the uniform policy, and maintains the appropriate professional image at all times.

Ensures correct field signs are displayed on all customers’ fields to promote FS products.

May be required to help with occasional operational duties as assigned by Agronomy Manager.

Performs other duties as assigned.
 

Customer Responsibilities:

 

  • Field Planning for the next cropping season, (eg Planting, Spraying, Fertilizing, Harvest, etc)
  • Customer Orders entered in to Agvance, Timely and Accurately (right location, correct amount)
  • Place Order follow up with Agronomy Manager to ensure product acquisition and timing
    • Custom Application Sheet (only when ready)
    • Delivery Ticket
    • Blend Sheet
  • Final Sale determine timing for product/service delivery (not necessarily personally). Notify of any changes, verify pricing, etc
  • Follow-up with customer to verify when/how the product and service will be provided
  • Product/Service Provided make sure that everything is correct
  • Follow-up make sure they are happy with product/service, resolve any issues, check for re-spray or other performance issues

 

 

Requirements:

Strong interpersonal skills to work with existing and potential customers.

Excellent knowledge of Ontario crop production.

Must be able to work independently and have good time-management skills.

Post-secondary education within the agriculture field.

CCA preferred but not required.

General knowledge of other products and services offered by the Lucknow District Co-op considered an asset.

 

 

Working Conditions:

 

Indoors/Outdoors with physical effort.  Regular travel, occasional irregular hours to accommodate seasonalities.
