PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

Under the general supervision of the Operations Manager, manages operations, equipment and personnel assigned to the branch(es) in an efficient and professional manner, which results in a profitable volume of business and a favorable company image in the community.

 

Under the general supervision of the Agronomy Manager, assumes the duties and responsibilities of selling and servicing assigned products in the designated territory.

 

 

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHP

 

Directly supervises employees in the Crops, Seed, Feed and Energy Departments.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Assist the Area Operations Manager in the development of annual budgets and capital expenditures.

 

Repairs and maintains equipment and facilities.

 

Completes daily reports and banking of all company funds.

 

Administers inventory control and keeps inventory in proper condition.

 

Serves as subject matter expertise to the Agri-Finance program to patrons and prospects who could benefit from this program.

 

Conducts periodic training and communication meetings with employees.

 

Meets all company, local, state and federal safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.

 

Implements marketing plans and develops sales strategies that generate profitable sales in the assigned territory.

 

Utilizes target marketing and professional sales techniques including the FS sales interview road map, emphasis of appropriate features and benefits, and contact management system when calling on patrons and prospects.

 

Develops territory and competitive analysis to maintain a current knowledge of the marketplace and the competition.

 

Provides value-added turf products, services, and recommendations to patrons and prospects. 

 

Schedules product delivery and application to patron locations.

 

Conducts regular patron meetings on product and technical information.

 

Provides customer service by using soil testing, scouting and other programs, follows up on customer complaints to achieve amiable resolutions.

 

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle according to company standards.

 

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

 

Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Normally requires an Associate’s Degree in agriculture, marketing, or other business related discipline and at least 2 years of sales/marketing experience, or the equivalent thereof, to demonstrate the ability to generate profitable sales in the assigned territory, communicate professionally, provide optimal customer service and demonstrate mathematical competencies required for the position.

 

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

 

Normally requires the ability to obtain a Certified Crop Specialist designation within three years of employment.

 

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

 

Must have and maintain a valid CDL.

 

Occasionally exposed or required to:  

  • Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, snow, ice, etc.)
  • Noisy conditions
  • Working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures
  • May be required to work at varying heights
  • Lift 51 - 75 lbs 

 

Must have the ability to travel on occasion.

 

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
