Purpose and Summary Statement
Under the direction of the Lead Millwright, the Millwright Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and repairs at FS Grain facilities to improve equipment functionality, reliability, and operational efficiency in a safe and timely manner. This role supports daily facility operations through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair work, and operational assistance across the FS Grain system.

This position reflects FS Grain’s commitment to professionalism through quality workmanship, accountability, and effective communication. The Maintenance Technician demonstrates customer focus by supporting efficient facility operations and minimizing downtime to meet business needs. This role promotes safety and regulatory compliance by adhering to OSHA, state, federal, and company safety standards. Through dependable performance, proper documentation, and responsible equipment care, the Maintenance Technician upholds integrity and contributes to a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, self-motivated, and capable of working independently while effectively supporting team operations in a fast-paced agricultural environment.

Essential Job Functions
• Perform assigned repairs and preventative maintenance on grain handling facilities and equipment throughout the FS Grain system.
• Troubleshoot equipment and mechanical issues to improve operational reliability and reduce downtime.
• Maintain assigned mobile unit, equipment, tools, and supplies in a clean, organized, and operational condition.
• Complete housekeeping responsibilities related to maintenance work areas and facility operations.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, federal, and FS Grain safety policies and procedures.
• Assist with grain operations, including loading and unloading trucks, grain dryer operation, and general facility housekeeping as needed.
• Communicate equipment or facility concerns promptly to the Facility Manager and Regional Operations Manager.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records for completed work.
• Promote a positive, collaborative, and team-oriented work environment.
• Utilize tools, equipment, and technology safely and efficiently to support operational success.

Additional Responsibilities
• Maintain company equipment according to company standards and adhere to company appearance and uniform policies.
• Turn in required documents, reports, and paperwork in a timely manner.
• Participate in required meetings, safety training, and professional development opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support operational success and team objectives.

Education & Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in maintenance, mechanical repair, agriculture, grain handling, or a related field preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills required.
• Proven ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
• Strong organizational and communication skills preferred.
• Knowledge of grain handling equipment and agricultural operations preferred.

Other Requirements
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Willingness and ability to travel independently and stay overnight when necessary.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, wet, and dusty environments.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
• Ability to work at varying heights, including climbing grain bins, grain legs, catwalks, towers, and other structures, as well as working in confined spaces.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience maintaining and repairing grain handling systems, including belt and chain conveyors, augers, gearboxes, electrical motors, and drive systems.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems and the ability to safely troubleshoot and assist with repairs.
• Experience with fabrication, welding, and torch work as needed to support facility maintenance and repairs.
• Ability to safely operate heavy equipment and tools used in grain facility operations and maintenance.
• Ability to read blueprints, use tape measures accurately, and follow instructions from supervisors and lead personnel.
• Working conditions may include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards while following appropriate safety measures.
• Must demonstrate physical stamina, comfort working at heights, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
• Must be available to work extended hours beyond normal business hours, including seasonal peak periods, as operational demands require.

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law.  In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and commissions.
