Sales Settlement Representative - FS GRAIN - Morris, IL

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT 

Under the direction of the Settlement Manager, the Sales Settlement Representative is responsible for performing a variety of tasks relating to customer and vendor accounts. Tasks include creating tickets, application of shipments to appropriate contracts, accounting for both payment and invoicing of freight and maintenance of state price later contracts.  

    

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

 

Position will be considered the expert regarding sales settlements, and overall account management, including tracking payment and assuring settlements are entered timely and accurately. 

 

Basic understanding of all contract types offered as it relates to the fees and payment options. 

 

In-depth understanding of state price later contracts while following all company and state issued policies and procedures accurately. 

 

Assist in maintaining complete and accurate records in accordance with company grain policies including reporting grain sales/purchases and hedge activity to merchandisers in a timely fashion. 

 

Read freight logs, create vouchers, and pay appropriately. 

 

Creating, tracking, and notifying appropriate parties about overdue invoices monthly.  

 

Customer grain account maintenance including application to contracts, updating records and settlements.  

 

Contract maintenance including daily application and reconciliation.  

 

Communication with merchandising team, customers, vendors, and customer service team to ensure customer and vendor shipments are applied correctly. 

 

Uses a Customer Relationship Management system to manage customer contacts, profiles, opportunities, state price later contracts, freight, and other pertinent business details. 

 

Promote and assist patrons with customer technology. 

 

Provide coverage in other areas related to settlement as asked. 

 

Assist in creating a positive work environment with encouraging and respectful interactions that promotes a consistent message of leadership, teamwork, profitability, and competitiveness. 

 

Adhere to company policy regarding expense, PTO, and vehicle usage reporting. 

 

Attends all required meetings and training programs.  

 

Promotes FS GRAIN’s safety culture by following all safety policies and procedures. 

 

Other duties may be assigned. 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS 

 

Associate degree or 2 years of grain accounting experience preferred. 

 

Customer service experience in agriculture preferred. 

 

Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and ag accounting software. 

 

Prefer knowledge of cooperative philosophies and principles. 

 

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, have the ability to work independently, and travel when 

necessary. 

 

Must be able to work hours beyond those considered normal when necessary.

Demonstrates the aptitude and proficiency to learn and fully utilize the Grain Accounting System with the ability to generate necessary reports and verify deductions, freight payments, liens, and accounts payable/receivable when generating delivery sheets/settlements.

Identify and report on inefficiencies that would allow us to better serve our customers/vendors and streamline processes. 

 

Stays current and informed on industry trends, competitive prices, and regulatory compliance.

Proven computer skills and the ability to use the computer to enhance business processes.
