PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

The Operations Manager position entails the supervision of day-to-day activities of our grain elevator(s). This includes the coordination of elevator operations staff and oversight of grain inventory/handling, grain quality/conditioning, elevator equipment, housekeeping, maintenance, rail loading preparations/activities, and the loading/unloading of grain trucks.

Reports to General Manager and makes note of all leadership activity needed by own self


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

•    Communicates effectively with fellow operations employees to achieve shared goals.

•    Leads fellow employees by being the example of good work ethic, attitude, and safety.

•    Maintains company equipment, including but not limited to legs, conveyors, and machinery.

•    Carries out all tasks related to receiving, shipping and handling grain, including operating the company’s grain dryers.

•    Monitors and keeps all grain in condition through regular inspections of bins and outbound grain, while reporting any information to leadership, including grain inventory measurements each month.

•    Ensures company property and grounds are maintained with the utmost care.

•    Reports all information essential to operations to the Assistant General Manager and/or General Manager when needed.

•    Complies with housekeeping standards while making sure to fill out appropriate documentation including safety records such as bin entry, hot work, and confined space permits.

 

Performs all other duties as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

•    Normally requires an extensive background in grain handling and mechanics 
•    Ability to create/maintain a teamwork environment

•    Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license 

•    Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on Heritage Grain’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.

•    Able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to climb ladder daily to heights generally ranging from 4-25ft.

 

Typical Working Hours:
Non-Harvest Hours: Monday-Friday 7am-4pm.
Additional weekend and evening hours may be required due to business needs.
Harvest Hours: Monday-Saturday 7am-7pm, Sunday 12pm-6pm.
