Agronomy Procurement Manager - GRAINCO FS - Ottawa, IL

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

Under the direction of General Manager, is responsible for the procurement and distribution of all crop nutrients, the profitability of the Crops Department, and the supervision of warehouse employees.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Supervises, leads and develops the warehouse management, sales, service and delivery team.

 

Develops and implements wholesale crop nutrient marketing plans, including marketing communications, strategic plans and target budgets, etc.

 

Responsible for the profitability of the warehouse through target marketing, competitive analysis, pricing strategies, continual management and evaluation of people and structure, managing fixed assets and inventories, etc.

 

Provides leadership to the warehouse team by setting performance expectations, managing sales activities, calling on key customers, and serving as a communication and public relations link to the company.

 

Oversees the credit worthiness of customers and the accounts receivable administration.

 

Implements a risk management plan with crop nutrient products.

 

Collaborates with the Agronomy Marketing Manager and Crop Salespeople to ensure adequate supply and profitability of crop nutrients.

 

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

      Education and Experience

 

Normally requires a Bachelors Degree in agriculture or business to demonstrate business knowledge and problem-solving skills.

 

Normally requires 6 or more years of sales and marketing experience to demonstrate marketing skills and sales leadership.  Prefer Crops management, sales and marketing experience.

 

      Functional Competencies

 

Understanding and experience in marketing strategy, marketing program execution, price strategy, budgeting and strategic planning.

 

Demonstrated supervisory experience including hiring, orientation, coaching, counseling, performance evaluations, and training and development, etc. and the ability to get work done through others.

 

Proven team building skills and the ability to work independently and also in a team orientated environment.

 

Proven professional communication, customer service, persuasion, and presentation skills.

 

Demonstrated organization and planning skills and the ability to develop marketing plans, performance expectations, budgets, etc.

 

Ability to use the computer and software to enhance business processes.

 

 

      Core Competencies

 

Demonstrated core competencies including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

 

      Other Requirements

 

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and have the ability to travel independently and overnight as needed.

 

Ability to work hours beyond those considered normal.
