PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
FS GRAIN is seeking a dynamic Market Strategy Advisor to join our team. This role is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with our customer base and prospects while managing risk. In collaboration with FS GRAIN leadership, the Market Strategy Advisor will develop and communicate effective marketing strategies to increase market share and profitability for both FS GRAIN and our customers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develop & Implement Origination Programs: Create origination strategies that include futures, options, basis, and OTC products relevant to customer operations. Achieve individual origination goals.
- Market Analysis & Strategy Development: Examine market conditions and implement origination strategies to maximize margins while managing risk. Act as the “local expert” in grain markets, interpreting reports and technical information for customers and the internal team.
- Competitor & Market Pricing: Monitor competitor bids and select the best options for customers. Provide current and deferred price quotes across various markets and collaborate with Merchandisers.
- Customer Engagement: Travel throughout the FS GRAIN territory to engage existing and prospective customers. Deliver market presentations and strategies both in-person and via electronic channels.
- Technology Integration: Promote and assist customers in utilizing FS GRAIN's technology solutions. Collaborate with local cooperatives and FS GRAIN's origination staff for cross-selling opportunities.
- Logistics Collaboration: Coordinate and manage grain pickup logistics, ensuring timely and efficient transportation from farm locations to designated destinations.
- CRM Utilization: Use a Customer Relationship Management system to manage contacts, profiles, opportunities, and key business details.
- Team Collaboration: Foster a positive work environment through respect, communication, and teamwork. Engage with facility managers and operations staff to forecast inbound grain movement and maximize facility efficiencies.
- Safety Culture: Promote FS GRAIN’s safety culture by adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
- Education: A college degree in Ag Economics, Ag Marketing, or Agri-Business preferred, OR
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years in the industry with proven success in origination, sales, and leadership.
- Driver’s License: Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel when necessary.

- Agricultural Marketing Expertise: Extensive knowledge of grain markets, including futures, options, basis, spreads, and risk management.
- Sales Proficiency: Demonstrated success in securing appointments, planning sales calls, and generating new business.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills. Ability to convey market strategies effectively to customers and teams.
- Problem-Solving: Navigate complex marketplace and customer relationships with practical solutions.

- Technology Proficiency: Strong computer skills and experience using technology to enhance business processes.
FS GRAIN is a leading grain company with 80 full time employees operating in Northern Illinois. FS GRAIN operates 19 facilities with a combined storage capacity of 40 million bushels, and access to multiple grain markets, including ownership of two Class I shuttle loaders.
