PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

Under the direction of the Grain Quality Control Manager, this position is responsible for elevator maintenance, installation, dismantling, and repair, including all aspects of grain handling, safety, maintenance, rolling stock, and customer service.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  • Assembling, installing, and repairing machines, then testing them to ensure they work properly.
  • Responsible for installing, maintaining, and dismantling conveyor systems, pulleys, mechanical clutches, gearboxes, and hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
  • Overseeing routine preventive maintenance by identifying and correcting potential issues, cleaning, and removing worn-out pieces, and lubricating mechanical parts.
  • Responsible for logical step-by-step procedures in work, planning, solving problems, and decision-making based on quantifiable information.

 

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Dismantle machines, structures, and equipment using appropriate tools.
  • Move, assemble, and install machinery and equipment such as shafting, precision bearings, motors, and tram rails, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Understanding fluid mechanics (hydraulics and pneumatics) and all the components involved in these processes, such as valves, cylinders, pumps, and compressors.
  • Must be trained to work with various precision tools, such as vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, levels, gauge blocks, and optical and laser alignment tooling.
  • Knowledge and experience with mechanical diagnosis, service, repairs, maintenance, and upkeep of equipment and vehicles.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Education and Experience

 

Normally requires a high school diploma, G.E.D., and/or experience in a related agriculture field.

  • Maintains a safe working environment and promotes safety amongst customers and employees.
  • Keep a Class D License and satisfactory driving record for company vehicles.

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

  • Exposed to grain dust and noise from grain probes, truck traffic, and elevator operation.
  • Exposed to extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.).
  • Required to work within precise limits or standards, varying heights, including climbs on grain bins, legs, etc., without fear.
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • Must be able to frequently handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weighs up to 50 pounds and occasionally over 50 pounds.
