Engineering Maintenance Manager – Chemical Formulation Plant 

 

Position Description:  
St. Louis based chemical formulation plant looking to add an Engineering Maintenance Manager to our staff.  Position will require candidate to have some related experience with a chemical processing plant. The successful candidate should have experience repairing and maintaining common chemical manufacturing equipment in a heavy industrial environment, understanding unit operations that will be critical for making process improvements, must be confident and self-motivated, and have experience managing both engineering and maintenance teams.  The person must be comfortable working in a chemical environment with both people and equipment. Effective communication skills are a must.  This is a salary position who reports directly to the General Manager.  This position will require occasional overtime and weekends as required. 

 

Position Duties: 

  • Work with Plant Manager to maintain list of Engineering and Maintenance projects and assign each task a priority and schedule completion date. 

  • Work directly with clients to discuss viability of proposed formulations and perform trial runs if applicable. 

  • Work with Quality to make process improvements to ensure a “right the first time” approach. 

  • Work with Plant Manager and Process Quality Manager to develop SOPs for all existing processes as well as any new processes. 

  • Work with Safety to assist in implementing any changes (including design and installation of any necessary equipment) to improve Plant Safety. 

  • Be responsible for small project design, purchase, installation, and start up. 

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment. 

  • Work with Plant Manager and Operations Team to improve efficiencies in both formulation and packaging areas. 

  • Work with General Manager and Plant Manager to propose capital projects and oversee execution of all approved capital projects. 

  • Work with Maintenance Team to track and ensure timely completion of all Preventative Maintenance Activities.

  • Work with Engineering Team to schedule and execute all “Pilot runs” for new formulations. 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Experience required: Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, basic knowledge of automated controls, expertise of operation and ability to repair Chemical Manufacturing equipment, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and willing to tackle data collection software and other process control formats.  Minimum of 5 years of Process Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment and managing an Engineering and Maintenance Team.   

  • Experience preferred:  Experience dealing with the manufacture of biological biostimulants, pesticides, and fungicides.  Experience with typical process equipment, pumps, tanks, and agitators. 
     

 

Salary Range is $100K-$120K annually, dependent on experience and technical knowledge.
