Plant Industrial Mechanic – Chemical Formulation Plant
Position Description:
St. Louis based chemical formulation plant looking to add mechanic to the maintenance staff. Position will require candidate to have an extensive background in pipe fitting, pump repair, and bearing and seal replacement. Welding knowledge is a plus but not required. Should have common sense and be able to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues. Position will also include some basic electrical and general maintenance with a wide variety of work to be done. Position is primarily day shift with occasional overtime and weekends as required.
Plant has processing and packaging equipment to produce finished product that is packaged in various formats including both liquid and powder. Position also includes maintaining plant utilities and building maintenance.
Essential Job Functions:
- Preventive Maintenance: Maintaining current equipment to minimize any downtime due to breakdowns. Understand and provide calendar driven work (preventive maintenance and inspections) to prevent untimely and unnecessary breakdowns. Adjust equipment during production to provide consistent and reliable performance.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Provide repair and troubleshooting experience/support during a breakdown. Must be able to flow to the work during a breakdown to provide quick start-up after failure.
- Project Work: Support on-going plant projects. This includes installation of new equipment and refurbishing of existing equipment. This also includes design & modifications to existing equipment to safely provide higher throughput and increased reliability.
- Interface with operations to minimize downtime and maximize plant reliability.
- Work with both outside contractors and plant operations to ensure all maintenance activities are completed in a safe and efficient manner. Good Interpersonal skills a must.
Plant Equipment:
Plant equipment includes but is not limited to: motors, a variety of pumps, scales, instruments, tanks, agitators, mills, valves, chillers, air compressors, boilers, spray dryer, blowers, vibratory conveyors, and associated support equipment.
Multiple packaging lines: Liquid packaging in bulk and smaller sizes. Powder packaging in both bulk and smaller sizes. Packaging lines include fillers, case erectors, tapers, scales, case and bottle conveyors, code daters, palletizers, stretch wrappers, etc.
Job Duties:
Install and repair mechanical systems (including pump, seals, bearings, packaging equipment) Must be able to read and understand industrial machinery and equipment, following manuals, schematic diagrams, and other specifications using hand tools, power tools, and installation equipment.
Should be familiar with 480 Volt 3-phase, 220/110 Single Phase and Low Voltage. Must understand type of transfer and mixing equipment. Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings for new installations and troubleshooting existing systems. Must have a basic understanding of MCC’s, motor starters and motor connections.
Must maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Proper PPE as required at all times.
Dayshift position but overtime will be required as necessary to keep plant operational.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years in a maintenance-related position or 2-year technical degree in Industrial Maintenance.
