PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Under the direction of the Agronomy Lead and Business Relationship Manager, generates profitable sales in the assigned territory through target marketing, competitive analysis, and providing value-added agronomic products, services, and recommendations. Ensures the credit worthiness of customers and promotes the company’s Credit programs as marketing tools.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Develops and executes marketing plans and sales strategies that generate profitable sales in the assigned territory. Evaluation of grower programs, to help develop the most successful outcome for their operation

Develops competitive analysis to maintain a current knowledge of the marketplace and the competition.

Provides value-added agronomic products, services, and recommendations to growers. Supports grower meetings on product and technical information in assigned area. Provide customer service by using soil/tissue testing, crop scouting and other programs. Follow up on customer complaints, and seeks a reasonable “win/win” resolutions.

Ensures the credit worthiness of customers, quotes prices and credit terms, and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained. Promotes the use of the company’s Credit programs as a sales tool and helps provide the required information to establish credit. Works closely with the credit department in collection of accounts receivable.

Obtain a State of Illinois applicator license to make recommendations.

Help to organize aerial application of fungicides and pesticides including maps. Obtain a CDL license with a Hazmat Endorsement

Stay abreast of the many changes (including technology) happening throughout agriculture. Utilization of technology, to help growers make more informed and data driven decisions. 

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle according to company standards. Adheres to the company Uniform Policy, and maintains the appropriate professional image.

Ensures FS field signs are displayed on customers’ fields to promote Southern FS products. Obtain a minimum of five agronomic comparisons on either corn, soybeans, or wheat.

Attend Crop Specialist meetings and training programs. Utilize EFC for record keeping and soil sampling orders. Learn Agvance planning/blending/record keeping Perform other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

Normally requires a college degree in agriculture, marketing, or other business related discipline and sale/marketing experience to demonstrate the ability to generate profitable sales in the assigned territory.

Attain Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) certification. Attain Certified Crop Specialist designation

Understanding of all agronomic product lines along with sales ability/persuasiveness, face-to-face selling skills, assertiveness, tenacity/persistence, resilience, competitive adeptness, inventory development and management, credit worthiness, and product proficiency.

Proven team building skills and the ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment. Proven professional communication, persuasion, presentation, and customer service skills.

Demonstrated planning, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills. Ability to use software solutions to enhance business processes.

Other Requirements

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and have the ability to travel independently and overnight as needed.
