Employment Manager - Illini FS - Urbana, IL

 

Illini FS is headquartered in Urbana, Illinois with branches in five eastern Illinois counties. Illini FS has about 200 employees and approximately 6,000 customers. The cooperative does business in agronomy, energy, tires, and retail. Illini FS is part of the GROWMARK System, an agricultural cooperative serving more than 100,000 customers across North America and Ontario, Canada.

 

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

  • Leads overall Human Resource functions including benefits, recruitment, compliance & employee relations for the assigned Retail Division(s).

 

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP

  • Provides leadership to management, supervisors, and other employees involved in the human resources function.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Oversees the development, implementation, and management of employment processes and record retention practices. Employment processes may include but is not limited to oversight to other recruiting staff members, developing job descriptions, candidate networking, sourcing, screening, interviewing and referral of qualified candidates. Responsible for the oversight and management of the pre-employment processes to be in alignment with GROWMARK requirements and I-9 and E-Verify compliance.
  • Oversees daily administration, communication, and compliance for the retirement plans, health & welfare plans, and wellness programs in conjunction with GROWMARK’s Benefits area. May serve as the primary contact or oversee individuals who serve as the primary contact for retail division(s) in the benefits area and coordinating an annual plan for open enrollment communication and support.
  • Oversees the company H2A program, guiding and directing H2A recruiting process, delegating other local coordination tasks as needed and works with GROWMARK personnel to ensure compliance with H2A program standards.
  • Champions and assists with ongoing FS WAY training coordination and recognition to promote a customer-centric culture. Works with GROWMARK’s designated Field Trainer to coordinate other training and succession planning needs. Oversees employee development and training records for all supervisors.
  • Assists Retail Division Manager in developing, analyzing, and implementing retail division succession planning strategies. Keeps the succession planning scorecard current and provides updates as requested by the Retail Division manager.
  • Provides consultation, coaching, and counseling to supervisors regarding employee relations programs, including workplace and employee issues, job performance, and monitoring the workplace environment.
  • Implements, facilitates, and maintains retail division performance management, salary administration, job analysis, and paid time-off program in conjunction with GROWMARK’s Compensation area.
  • Assists the retail division Controllers with compliant payroll services and SuccessFactors utilization for retail division(s) in conjunction with GROWMARK’s Payroll areas.
  • Responsible for the following compliance functions with direction from GROWMARK’s Compliance & Employee Relations Manager:
    • Collaborates on compliance, EEO, OFCCP and Affirmative Action issues and investigations as required.
    • Serves as the “resource person” in assisting Retail Division(s) in compliance with governmental regulations, standards of conduct and privacy, GROWMARK policies, and ethical issues.
    • Provides advice, coaching, counseling, and training to Retail Division managers, supervisors, and employees on compliance, EEO, Affirmative Action, privacy, GROWMARK policies, and ethics subjects.
    • Generates regular updates regarding training, compliance breaches, EEO and Affirmative Action issues, and the status of on-going compliance reviews.
  • Regularly coordinates and collaborates with GROWMARK centers of excellence including Training & Development, Recruiting, HRIS, Benefits, Compliance and Compensation to assure alignment and continuity of processes & programs.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assists with recruitment strategies for the organization that align with the company’s talent strategies.
  • Collaborates regularly with the GROWMARK Student Recruiting team to ensure internship and new college graduate recruiting needs for the retail division(s) are met and recruiting approach is coordinated with GROWMARK and FS companies.
  • Assists with appropriate planning and budgeting inputs for areas relating to human resources and the position needs.
  • Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Normally requires a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or the equivalent thereof, and 5 years or more of human resources and/or business leadership experience.
  • Normally requires a professional human resources certification or the ability to obtain one within three years of employment to demonstrate advanced knowledge in human resources. Successful re-certification is required in accordance with the certification thereafter.
  • Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Must have the ability to travel independently, frequently, and overnight when necessary to company/corporate/regional meetings, university/college locations, training sessions, and recruiting events.
  • Ability to always maintain absolute professional confidentiality and privacy.
  • Ability to load, transport, unload, set-up, and take down career/job fair displays.
  • Frequently required to lift and move 21 – 50 lbs.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
