Mgr, Area Sales - Agronomy - Sunrise FS - Urbana, IL
SALARY RANGE: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00
Sunrise FS is headquartered in Virginia, Illinois with branches in Mason, Cass, Champaign, Clark, Douglas, Edgar and Vermillion counties. Sunrise FS has about 200 employees (including seasonal workers) and approximately 2,500 customers. The cooperative does business in agronomy, energy, grain, tires, irrigation, and retail. Sunrise FS is part of the GROWMARK System, an agricultural cooperative serving more than 100,000 customers across North America and Ontario, Canada.
PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Assists with the development and implementation of marketing plans, generating profitability, and maximizing organic growth through key marketing activities.
SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP
Supervises, leads, and develops the assigned Crop Specialists and Crop Sales Associates personnel to successfully grow the company’s business by providing leadership, setting performance expectations, providing feedback, and actively maintaining performance management standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assists in the development and implementation of marketing plans within assigned territory.
Ensures profitable sales growth of assigned territory through target marketing, competitive analysis, risk management, and continual management and evaluation of assigned sales team.
Develops and implements an effective sales administration plan that includes setting expectations, training, regular in-field coaching, measuring results, and follow-up.
Develops annual sales goals and key objectives that align with organizational goals and objectives through collaboration with assigned sales team, oversees implementation and is responsible for outcome.
Responsible for ensuring assigned sales team comply with government regulatory requirements, safety standards and company policies and procedures.
Responsible for ensuring company credit policies and procedures are followed within assigned sales team.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Recruits, selects, and retains quality personnel. Trains, coaches, counsels, and disciplines employees to develop individual talents.
Conducts and assists with training and informational meetings.
Assists with the development of the company budget by forecasting sales volumes, projected margins and expense items.
Supports and contributes to total company goals and objectives through collaboration efforts.
Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Normally requires a Bachelor’s degree in business or related area or the equivalent thereof, and 6 years or more of business related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of and the ability to demonstrate advanced marketing skills and sales leadership, supervisory skills, generate profitable sales, build a repeat customer base, and gain market share.
Demonstrated essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and have the ability to travel independently and overnight.
Ability to work extended hours as business conditions warrant.
Prefer an understanding of GROWMARK energy division products and services.
Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable professional certifications associated with the agronomy industry (CCA).
Occasionally exposed or required to:
- Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.)
- Working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures
- May be required to work at varying heights
- Lift 51 - 70 lbs.
Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and commissions.
