REPORTS TO: Energy Area Sales Manager                                                                                             STATUS: Non-Exempt

 

PAY RANGE: $16 to $18 / hour

Compensation is determined based on your experience and qualifications.

In addition to base pay, you may be eligible for overtime, commission, performance-based increases, and bonuses.

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

The Petroleum Delivery Specialist is responsible for transporting and delivering petroleum products, including fuels and lubricants, to commercial, industrial, and agricultural customers. The ideal candidate will have experience in fuel transportation, possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements, and be committed to following strict safety and compliance regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  • Operate tanker trucks and transport petroleum products to customers efficiently and safely.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues.
  • Comply with Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations for hazardous materials transportation.
  • Establishes and follows a structured route system in the delivery territory, ensuring timely distribution of petroleum products according to customer requirements and assigned schedules.
  • Maintain professional communication with customers to confirm deliveries and address any concerns.
  • Load and unload fuel while adhering to company policies and industry regulations.
  • Follow all fuel handling, spill prevention, and emergency response procedures.
  • Report any delivery discrepancies, spills, or safety incidents to management promptly.
  • Accurately records sales and delivery information on daily sales logs, invoices, and required documentation.
  • Maintains a preferred prospect list and calls on prospective customers to solicit new business.
  • Prepares order forms and sales contracts.
  • Communicates marketing programs and distributes sales promotion materials to customers and prospects.
  • Adheres to and supports the company credit policy, checking credit history of patron before making a sale, and explaining policy to new customers.
  • Collects accounts as needed according to credit policy.
  • Follows up on all customer complaints and seeks solutions in a timely manner.
  • Promotes the use of FS credit / Agri-Finance as a sales tool.
  • Submits required reports promptly as requested by manager and communicates activities in trade territory on a regular basis.

REQUIREMENTS

 

Education and Experience

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Basic mechanical skills for vehicle maintenance and inspections.
  • Familiarity with petroleum products, fuel storage, and handling procedures is a plus.
  • Prior experience in fuel delivery, trucking, or hazardous material transport preferred.
  • Prior experience in petroleum equipment maintenance, mechanical repair, or a related field preferred.
  • Understanding of fuel dispensers, tank monitoring systems, and petroleum handling regulations.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects, as required for loading and unloading.

Other Requirements

 

  • Obtain a valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with required endorsements (e.g., HazMat, Tanker) within six months of employment and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to obtain, within six months, and maintain applicable professional certifications associated with the energy industry.
  • Must reside within the geography assigned when an employment opportunity is presented.  
  • Follow safety and compliance standards to help ensure their well-being and the safety of others.
  • Ability to work hours other than those considered normal at various times throughout the year to meet deadlines and demands.
  • The role may require occasional travel to other company locations or industry events, with the ability to travel independently and stay overnight as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in required training, including education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training related to the position’s requirements.
