Grain Department Operations Manager - New Century FS - Yankton, SD

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

  • Responsible for directing the operations, implementing the policies and programs, and ensuring the growth and profitability of the Grain Department.   

 

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP

  • Supervises, leads, and develops the employees of the Grain Department.  

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS  

  • Directs the operations, implementing grain marketing programs, communications, budgets and ensuring the growth and profitability of the Grain Department 
  • Ensures the maximum utilization efficiency of storage and grain handling equipment 
  • Takes ownership for both the quantity and quality of all grain under company ownership 
  • Maintains proper grain dealer, grain warehouse, and regulatory requirements 
  • Develops and implements grain strategic plans, operating and fixed budgets 

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Communicates professionally and provides optimal customer service 
  • Utilizes technology and Microsoft offices programs and proprietary software to enhance business processes 
  • Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply 
  • Performs all other duties as assigned 

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Normally requires a Bachelor’s degree in Ag Economics, Ag Marketing or Agri-Business or similar field and 6 or more years of experience in operations, marketing and/or commodity trading, or a combination of equivalent education & experience to demonstrate knowledge of grain operations leadership 
  • Demonstrated core competencies including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development 
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record 
  • Must have the ability to travel independently and overnight when necessary 
  • Occasionally required to lift 21-50 lbs. 
  • Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
