Field Sales Agronomist (Dairy Nutritionist) - GROWMARK, Inc. - Wisconsin

Accountable for profitable sales and market share growth of dairy select, FS InVISION, WL Alfalfa and FS Forages and provides agronomy technical and sales leadership with assigned FS companies.




Leads and initiates sales calls with targeted growers coordinated with assigned FS companies to promote FS supported seed brands with a primary emphasis on Dairy Select, FS InVISION, WL Alfalfa and FS Forages.


Develops and takes a leadership role in the promotion of GROWMARK products and services consistent with business plans.


Actively calls on key Accounts/Prospects with or without the crop salesman 70% of the time.


Manages a budget to increase market share with a positive Return on Investment. 


Leads field sales agronomist meetings with the team of field sales managers on Dairy Select.


Focus on seed business strategy with field marketing managers to help improve the profitability of members and market share growth.


Maintains an analysis of the major competitors in the marketplace and provides market intelligence information to GROWMARK.


Develops a high level of personal trust with the ability to influence Crop Specialists.


Displays a high level of active sales skills with the ability to close sales calls


Develops whole farm proposals that create differentiation in the marketplace to effectively grow seed volumes


Leads and champions the understanding of all trait offerings, competitive germplasm nomenclature and differentiation points in the trade territory


Actively performs hands-on seed training with all system supported brands in the field with Crop Specialists.  Champion of the Dairy Select Brand.


Supports and implements all GROWMARK seed brands in seed proposals


Identifies and calls on key grower targets in the territory that are not current seed accounts


Effective demand planning of products for the member companies.


Is a leader with technology offerings and trains member crop specialist on how to provide value with technology.





Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.


Performs all other duties as assigned.




Normally requires a BS degree in Ag Business or Agronomy or the equivalent thereof


Normally requires 5 years or more of sales related work experience with dairy farmers to demonstrate knowledge of seed and crop protection sales and the ability to execute strategic marketing plans, budgets, and communications.

Strongly prefer an understanding and knowledge of the dairy industry and operations.


Ability to train on field usage and sales proposals utilizing Precision Ag.


Qualified to provide training on crop pests, including proper identification.


Ability to provide proper fertility recommendations.


Ability to develop and present complete cropping solutions for large multi-person farming operations.


Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.


Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.


Must be able to obtain and maintain Certified Crop Advisor.


Occasionally exposed or required to: 

  • Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.)
  • Working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals,
  • Lift 51-70 lbs

Will need to be able to travel independently and overnight.

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
