PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

Manage product lines in assigned vegetable seed species, provide product and market evaluations to assist product selection, coordinate advertising efforts, provide sales support in key crops, and help identify new market opportunities.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Manages product line in assigned species.  Selects products, directs purchases, forecasts sales and life cycles, sets pricing strategy, and manages inventory.

 

Plans, implements and reports results for crop trials as assigned, to include assisting product development and sales with implementation and evaluation of all crops as needed.

 

Manages product development and trials to include planning, providing direction for distribution and participation in evaluations.

 

Develops and/or maintains product reference material files to include product profile sheets, photos, trial history and relevant cultural information.

 

Maintains relationship with appropriate segments of the seed trade and university personnel, to keep abreast of new developments in assigned crops.

 

Assist sales team in generating new business opportunities with suppliers

 

Identify and correct internal supply chain issues for western sales

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

 

Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Normally requires an Associate Degree in plant science, or other business related discipline, and at least 5 years of vegetable industry experience, or the equivalent thereof, to demonstrate leadership in business and marketing including project management, problem solving and planning skills.

 

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Must be able to travel independently and overnight as needed.

 

Must be able to work extended hours beyond those considered “normal” to meet seasonal demands.

 

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
