Trial Farm Laborer (Seasonal) - Seedway - Elizabethtown, PA


Seedway is headquartered in Hall, New York with branches in Pennsylvania, Florida, Vermont, Maine, and New York. Seedway has about 220 employees (including seasonal workers) and approximately 15,000 customers. The cooperative does business in farm, vegetable, and turf seed. Seedway is part of the GROWMARK System, an agricultural cooperative serving more than 100,000 customers across North America and Ontario, Canada.



Position will perform seasonal trial farm duties. 





Performs all general farming operations.


Operates and maintains equipment, including daily inspection of fluids levels, sharpening mower blades, and performs/and or reports repairs as needed. 


Performs crop maintenance, includes spraying, hand weeding and mowing as needed. Pruning and staking/stringing tomatoes.


Scout, identify and report or address problems related to crop maintenance.


Assisting with overhead irrigation; moving traveling guns, stationary heads, setting up and maintaining trickle lines and filters.


Assist in organizing and planting Trial Plots.


Assist with harvesting crops and pollinating nursery crops.


Assist with organizing and preparing for sales training seminar and grower field day.


Assist product managers with collecting trial data.





Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.


Performs all other duties as assigned.





Normally requires a high school diploma or the equivalent thereof, and 1 or more years of retail related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of basic business principals of inventory management and mechanics.


Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.


Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.


Must meet approval of Milton Hershey School required background checks.


Frequently required to lift up to 100 lbs.as needed and operate a tractor when required.


Will be required to work hours other than those considered “normal” to meet seasonal demands.


Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
