Turf Seed Business Manager - SEEDWAY - Emmaus, PA

 

Seedway is headquartered in Hall, New York with branches in Pennsylvania, Florida, Vermont, Maine, and New York. Seedway has about 220 employees (including seasonal workers) and approximately 15,000 customers. The cooperative does business in farm, vegetable, and turf seed. Seedway is part of the GROWMARK System, an agricultural cooperative serving more than 100,000 customers across North America and Ontario, Canada.

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

Manage Seedway’s Turf Seed Business to meet annual budget and growth expectations.

 

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP

 

Manages sales force to achieve budgeted sales and margin levels.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Implements the strategic plan as it relates to Seedway’s turf business.

 

Prepares annual budget for turf seed sales and gross margin.

 

Manages sales force to achieve budgeted sales and margin levels. Coordinate turf sales activities with Farm Seed business Location Managers.

 

Manage produce line selection in consultation with Allied Seed and appropriate GROWMARK personnel. Oversee inventory accumulation levels. Select and promote high quality turf amenities product line. Develop price lists, product brochures and fact sheets.

 

Identify growth opportunities for turf business in expanded geographies and new outlets.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Represent Seedway, LLC in Atlantic and American Seed Trade Association as approved by COO.

 

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

 

Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Normally requires a Bachelor’s Degree in business or marketing, or the equivalent thereof, and at least 6 years in a related business leadership role to demonstrate leadership in business and marketing including project management, problem solving, and planning skills.

 

Prefer an understanding of GROWMARK System marketing strategies, competitive analysis, sales administration programs and proprietary software.

 

Prefer an understanding of the GROWMARK System including the Divisions’ operations.

 

Demonstrated essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

 

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

 

Must be able to travel independently and overnight.

 

Must be able to work extended hours beyond those considered “normal”.

 

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
