Marketing & Communication Assistant - Seedway, LLC - Hall, NY

 

SEEDWAY, LLC is headquartered in Hall, New York and currently employs 280 employees (including seasonal workers) nationwide. SEEDWAY is part of the GROWMARK system, an agricultural subsidiary serving more than 100,000 customers across North America, Canada, and Mexico. SEEDWAY, LLC is a full-line seed company providing high quality, high-performing farm seed products as well as lawn and turf products throughout Pennsylvania, New York, New England states, Florida, and South Carolina. We offer a leading line of vegetable seed for growers in the United States and Eastern Canada.

Salary Range -  $18.00 - $22.00 / hour

 

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

Supports development, production, enhancement and implementation of marketing communication plans and projects including all media:  print advertising, website, catalog, brochures, direct mail, etc. for Seedway Farm, Turf and Vegetable Seed business units to enhance and promote Seedway as a successful, full-line seed business.

 

 

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP 

 

Supervises, leads, and develops marketing interns in the marketing department, including the creation/development of special project. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Supports development and production of Seedway catalogs, product brochures, print advertising, direct mail and other communication materials to enhance the image of the respective business units, promote product lines and support sales efforts.

Assists in the development of farm and turf seed catalogs.

Supports print advertising development and placement.

Develops and implements special projects and promotions for farm seed dealers (mailers, ads, sales promotions).

Participates and maximizes efficiency of resources and value for attendees in northern and southern farm seed unit meetings.

Prepares materials, maintains booth appearance distribution and set-up at major New York and Pennsylvania trade shows.

Supports press release distribution for all business units, product lines and personnel.

Develops and expands knowledge of the seed industry and seed-related subjects of importance.

Assists Director of Marketing and Public Relations as needed in areas including but not limited to:  sales support, corporate projects, employee training, event organization and management, and supporting COO projects as assigned.

Oversees SEEDWAY branded promotional items line for SEEDWAY staff and customers.

Supports and maintains all creatives for all SEEDWAY social media channels.

 

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Normally requires an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Agribusiness, Marketing, Business Management, or other ag-related area or the equivalent thereof, and 3 - 5 years or more of marketing communications related work experience.

Fundamental understanding of agricultural production and business is preferred.

Requires proficiency in software applications:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe In Design, Adobe PhotoShop and Quark preferred.

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Ability to work independently and in project teams, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and coordinate complex schedules.

Capacity for creativity in developing advertisements and marketing programs.

Flexibility to adapt and react to changes in scheduling, project needs and marketing opportunities.

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

May be required to work hours beyond those considered “normal”.

Must be willing to travel independently and overnight.

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
