Eastern Operations Mgr. - Seedway - Lakeland, FL

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

Manage personnel and inventory to provide prompt, accurate, saleable product at most reasonable cost to customers and to Seedway.

 

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP

 

Supervises, leads, and develops Associate Warehouse Manager, Warehouse employees, and office Manager

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Performs periodic and timely visual inspections of all structural components for soundness, rodent proofing, weather proofing and appearance.

Inspects forklifts daily for all safety features, oil leaks, back up signal and lights, etc. and documents records. Schedules service and repairs.

Replaces worn parts on all equipment to ensure safety and efficiency. Maintains mechanical equipment at facility.

Organizes, maintains, and manages inventory to minimize shrink and obsolescence and maximize efficiency.  

Maintains labels and assures compliance to states seed laws.

Assures shipping count and lot numbers are accurate to assure customer satisfaction and meet state seed audit requirements.

Agricultural and markets liaison for sampling and local compliance.

Responsible for the documentation of all paperwork.

Responsible for maintenance and repair (including grounds) at facility, including snow removal from main warehouse.

Project capital and large dollar maintenance needs. 

Review and approve invoice for supplies, maintenance and utilities.

Supervise and lead eastern CSR group to ensure harmony among Seedway Vegetable Seed locations

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

 

 

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

 

Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

Lead safety and compliance person for location.

 

Manage maintenance on delivery vehicles.

 

Work side-by-side with logistics and customer service.  

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Normally requires an Associate’s Degree in agricultural or business discipline, or the equivalent thereof, and 3 years or more of supervisory related work experience to demonstrate knowledge to effectively manage the assigned facilities and personnel.

 

Understanding and experience with competitive adeptness, inventory management, customer credit worthiness, and product knowledge and proficiency, including fertilizers, ag chemicals, seed, soil needs, and field monitoring.

 

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, and have the ability to travel independently.

Must be able to obtain and maintain all applicable certifications, licenses, and permits.

Ability to work extended hours and on-call as business conditions warrant

Prefer an understanding of GROWMARK agronomy and/or energy operations.

 

Occasionally exposed or required to:

 

  • Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, snow, ice, etc.)
  • Noisy conditions
  • Working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures
  • May be required to work at varying heights
  • Lift 51 - 70 lbs.

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

 

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
