Vegetable Seed Sales Manager-Texas/Mexico - Seedway - McAllen, TX

 

Seedway is headquartered in Hall, New York with branches in Pennsylvania, Florida, Vermont, Maine, and New York. Seedway has about 220 employees (including seasonal workers) and approximately 15,000 customers. The cooperative does business in farm, vegetable, and turf seed. Seedway is part of the GROWMARK System, an agricultural cooperative serving more than 100,000 customers across North America and Ontario, Canada.

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

Serve as the leader for Texas and Mexico markets.  Incumbent will build and grow the Sales and Product Development teams to create demand for Seedway products and services.  Work with customers and producers to grow the business and add suppliers as opportunities become available.  Understand and navigate Mexico governmental regulations to ensure Seedway’s (Semillas Champion) ability to address market needs.

 

 

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP

 

Supervise, lead and develop Sales Representatives for Texas and Mexico sales unit.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Oversee the Texas and Mexico team as well as pricing strategies for situational pricing; develop price quotes and special price lists for Mexico sales.

 

Participate in the development and planning of sales and product strategies to include forecasting, product development and introduction.

 

Plan and execute sales meetings.

 

Implement sales strategies with Sales Representatives and Vegetable Seed Coordinator

 

Provide the direction for marketing and advertising strategies and programs

 

Identify and pursue opportunities for growth

 

Monitor and assist with collection of past due receivables

 

Manage sales and expenses to meet budget goals.

 

Oversee border crossing for Mexico business.

 

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

 

Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Normally requires a college degree in agriculture, marketing or other business-related discipline, and at least 5 years of sales/marketing/management experience, or the equivalent thereof, to demonstrate leadership with the ability to generate profitable sales

 

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

 

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

 

Must be able to travel independently and overnight within Texas and Mexico as needed.

 

Must be able to work extended hours beyond those considered “normal” to meet seasonal demands.

 

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
