Western Purchasing Agent/Logistics Coordinator - Seedway - Nampa, ID


Seedway is headquartered in Hall, New York with branches in Pennsylvania, Florida, Vermont, Maine, and New York. Seedway has about 220 employees (including seasonal workers) and approximately 15,000 customers. The cooperative does business in farm, vegetable, and turf seed. Seedway is part of the GROWMARK System, an agricultural cooperative serving more than 100,000 customers across North America and Ontario, Canada.



Buys and arranges delivery of seed and supplies for vegetable seed group.





Generates PO’s and tracks seed purchases.


Calculates first draft of annual vendor contracts.


Monitors inventories and purchases spot requirements.


Maintains sold out / short crop lists.


Calculates prorate allocations to salespeople.


Tabulates salesperson annual forecast needs.


Schedules inbound freight on all seed purchases.


Identifies needs and schedule custom seed treatments and coatings.


Monitors usage history and schedules deliveries to meet sales demand and maximize turn of inventory.


Develops and maintains reports to determine usage needs and forecasts.


Resolves discrepancies with vendors as related to purchases.


Communicates information on product availability and quality to staff and salesmen





Manages organic certification process


Calculates and recommends base prices for annual price update


Perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to: photocopying, faxing, mailing, and filing


Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply


Performs all other duties as assigned





Normally requires an Associates degree, or the equivalent thereof, and 1 – 3 years or more of clerical related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of professional communication skills, typing proficiency and Microsoft Office programs.


Prefer experience with J D Edwards system.


Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.


Demonstrated essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.


Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
