Operations Lead - LAKESIDE GRAIN TRADING, LLC - Chicago, IL
PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Self-motivated individual capable of operating all systems, assigning and coordinating staff to fulfill the day-to-day obligations of the complex, assisting in daily operational duties, and in the absence of the Site Manager, able to assume and successfully perform those responsibilities temporarily.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Ability to assign, communicate and then coordinate day to day responsibilities amongst fellow operational staff so that obligations are achieved in a safe and efficient manner.
Ability to recognize changing conditions or obligations, evaluate all appropriate options and the related trade-offs, then demonstrate the ability to make a decision in a timely and thoughtful manner.
Demonstrate leadership promoting best practices and the ability to train fellow operational staff.
Consistent demonstration of both written and verbal communication appropriate for the situation.
Understanding of all procedural obligations including those related to safety and assist the Terminal Manager with compliance, including identifying opportunities, promoting and implementing safety standards, audits, and training.
Perform all Operator essential and other assigned job functions.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Ensure customers are served professionally by providing timely, responsive, and adaptable customer service.
Comply with all training, environmental, health, and safety programs.
Follows Company’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Normally requires a high school diploma or the equivalent thereof, minimum of 2 years or more of operator work experience.
Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making, leading others, and skill development.
Ability to work extended hours, beyond those considered “normal”, during busy time periods.
Must be willing to obtain and maintain a forklift certificate.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
Occasionally exposed or required to:
- Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.)
- Noisy conditions
- Working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards, requiring utilization of appropriate safety measures
- May be required to work at varying heights.
- Move up to 70 pounds
Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on company policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
