PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

Conducts investigations, analysis, and appraisals of business development projects including but not limited to acquisition opportunities and, upon request, assists in the disposal of assets on behalf of the GROWMARK System.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Evaluates and completes appraisals for the market value of commercial agricultural and related businesses. 

 

Maintains current business appraisal and evaluation expertise through industry contacts, associations, and training.

 

On behalf of the GROWMARK System (corporate, members, and retail divisions):

 

Investigates businesses and/or asset acquisition opportunities.

 

Works with the appropriate resources to develop, maintain, and contact a list of competing businesses which would complement operations and provide growth.

 

Assists in the implementation of growth strategies involving the acquisition of businesses and/or assets as directed.

 

Assists region staff and management of member cooperatives as needed to develop assumptions to be applied to economic evaluations of potential acquisitions and determine negotiation strategy.

 

Works with environmental and regulatory services to resolve potential environmental issues associated with market development projects.

 

Electronically tracks all assigned projects.
 
Upon request, assists in the disposal of assets.

 

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

 

Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Normally requires six years of experience or more in an operations related position within the GROWMARK System.

 

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

 

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record and maintain valid passport.

 

Must have the ability to travel domestically, internationally, independently and overnight when necessary. 
    
Must be able to obtain and maintain appraiser certifications.

 

Ability to work extended hours

 

Occasionally exposed or required to:  


•    Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.)
•    Noisy conditions
•    Working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures
•    May be required to work at varying heights 
•    Lift up to 70 lbs. 

 

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
