PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Responsible for providing business leadership, counsel, and assistance to the Grain Division, and grain enterprises in the areas of financial analysis, administrative requirements, and information management. 

 

Responsible for oversight and pro-active management of MID-CO, MID-CO Branch Office and compliance with all commodity exchange regulations and agencies and maintaining MID-CO’s business systems.

 

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP

Supervises, leads, and develops the Futures Accounting Specialist, Senior Compliance Analyst, Compliance Analyst and Grain Risk Operations Supervisor.  Provide training and guidance to all Branch Office Managers and Associated Persons to remain within regulatory compliance.

 

Serves as the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) for MID-CO Commodities

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsible for managing and implementing programs to ensure MID-CO, MID-CO personnel, Associated Persons, and MID-CO branch offices’ ongoing compliance with regulatory agencies, including the Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the National Futures Association (NFA), Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), and any other applicable exchanges or regulatory entities.

 

Manages financial and regulatory obligations directly with MID-CO’s banking, Exchange, and clearing broker relationships.

 

Administers MID-CO’s Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Program, Risk Management Program and Information System Security Program.

 

Provides oversight to proper accounting procedures and internal controls. Coordinates with Grain Risk Operations Supervisor to ensure implementation and maintenance of controls.

 

Provides oversight to the application of MID-CO's margin collection policy.

 

Reviews high risk market positions in coordination with MID-CO and AgriVisor staff and provides recommendations and updates to management.

 

Prepares material for and attends MID-CO and AgriVisor Board meetings.

 

Coordinates the development and administration of annual operating and capital budgets, collaborates on short and long-range strategic and financial plans and forecasts within grain division, RGU’s, and grain partnerships. 

 

Responsible for the Grain Uniform Management Agreement audit calculation, preparation of GROWMARK and member board materials, and presentations for Grain Division. 

 

Assists with annual comparative analysis for Grain Staff members to utilize with cooperative board of directors and management.

 

Manages the Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) process for Grain Division.

 

Serves as liaison to Treasury Research and Analysis (TRA). 

 

Manages the reporting obligations, audit database, and analysis functions for applicable divisions.

 

Responsible for the creation of CEO Staff and GROWMARK Board of Director presentations, memorandums and supporting documents.

 

Responsible for the maintenance of Grain Dealer Licenses for GROWMARK and its grain partnerships. Coordinates and assists grain partnerships with state and federal audits, compliance and inspections.   

 

Grain Division liaison with IMS and coordinates back office and accounting support for GROWMARK Grain partnerships.

 

Coordinates and organizes meetings of Grain Division Controllers.

 

Assists the Grain Division in development and maintenance of recommended corporate and employee policies.

 

Assists MID-CO with growth initiatives and related marketing efforts. 

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Develop presentations for Grain Division Staff as needed.

 

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

 

Responsible for encouraging, supporting, and promoting innovative practices, ideas, and technologies within the team.

 

Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Normally requires a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting, and 6 years or more of related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of business and financial leadership.

 

Prefer GROWMARK System financial experience.

 

Prefer Certified Public Accountant certification.


Registered with the NFA as an AP or qualified for same within one year of assuming the position.


Understanding of and experience in developing and implementing compliance programs, internal controls, audit strategy, policies and procedures.


Proven supervisory and leadership skills including staffing, coaching, performance evaluation, etc. and the ability to achieve results through others. 
 

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

 

Must have a valid driver’s license and passport with the ability to work extended hours and travel independently overnight.

 

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law.  In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and commissions.
