PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT 

 

Serves as the Communications intern under the direction of the Director, Communications Services assists with general communication functions, including planning and creating communication materials supporting System communication strategy, and providing overall support and resource development to the Corporate Communications department. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

 

  • Collaborate with various departments to plan and create communications materials. Manage schedules and budgets for assigned projects. 

 

  • Create and maintain communication materials for use by GROWMARK, Inc., Member Companies, Retail Divisions, and Subsidiaries. 

 

  • Develop and maintain print and digital communication resources for use with internal and external audiences. 

 

  • Create and manage content for corporate publications including the corporate blog, SOURCE magazine, and internal company websites. 

 

  • Leverage the use of System messages with internal and external audiences by working with executives, subject matter experts, and new employees  

 

  • Write for a wide variety of projects. 

 

  • Assist with the planning and execution of GROWMARK System Summit 

 

  • Responsible for representing GROWMARK in a professional manner at industry and System events. 

 

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS 

 

  • Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply. 

 

  • Performs all other duties as assigned. 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS 

 

  • Must be pursuing a communications, journalism, english, or related degree at a 4-year university with the status of at least a second semester junior or first semester senior in good academic standing at the time the internship begins. 

 

  • Basic understanding of strategic communication principles. 

 

  • Proven oral and written communications and customer service skills. 

 

  • Proven computer skills including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint). Adobe PhotoShop, and other Adobe suite applications is preferred. 

 

  • Demonstrated planning, organization, problem-solving, and project management skills. 

 

  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and in a team. 

 

  • Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making, and skill development. 

 

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and have the ability to travel independently and overnight as needed. 

 

  • Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
