PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Manages the Safety and Insurance Services Department (SIS), FS Insurance Agency (FSIA) and assists with the management of FS Preferred Insurance Company (FSPIC) and FS Preferred Benefits Company (FSBIC).

 

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHP

Supervises, leads and develops the Safety Services Manager, Insurance Account Representatives and the Insurance Analyst.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for the procurement of property and casualty insurance for GROWMARK and its subsidiaries and the renewal and allocation of premiums for the GROWMARK System.
  • Provides Insurance and Risk Management counsel and service to member cooperatives, GROWMARK and its subsidiaries.
  • Administers and manages the safety, compliance, and accident prevention program for the GROWMARK System.
  • Responsible or the utilization of loss reports, claim run analysis, data development and management for the allocation of premiums, development of loss control initiatives, determination of retention levels and funding of deductible programs.
  • Responsible for emergency response procedures for GROWMARK, its subsidiaries and insureds and oversees and co-coordinates the emergency response activities.
  • Responsible for the administration and history of all major claims. Serves as the mediator on claims when necessary.
  • Responsible for budgeting and administration of SIS’s overhead. Assists with financial statements, trust accounts and budgeting of FSPIC, FSBIC, and FSRMS.
  • Assists in the preparation of information needed for presentation to the FSPIC, FSBIC, and GROWMARK board of directors and participates in the meetings.
  • Responsible for working with GROWMARK divisions and legal counsel to analyze risk management concerns, work on contractual language to protect GROWMARK and gather the required certificates of insurance from vendors and customers.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.
  • Responsible for encouraging, supporting, and promoting innovative practices, ideas, and technologies within the team.
  • Leads the GROWMARK Way for Insurance and Safety Services
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Normally requires a bachelor’s degree with a business major or equivalent and at least 8 years of advanced insurance, risk management or risk finance related experience to demonstrate the ability to provide insurance leadership to the GROWMARK System.
  • Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.
  • Requires the Illinois Property/Casualty Insurance Agent’s license and other states as requested or the ability to obtain these.
  • Prefer the following:
    • Professional Insurance designation(s)
    • Insurance agency, brokerage or company experience
    • Safety and loss control education and experience and
    • MBA or other advanced degree
  • Requires proven professional communication, persuasion, presentation, and customer service skills.
  • Requires demonstrated analytical, planning, organization, problem-solving, project management, time management and “attention to detail” skills.
  • Requires team building skills and ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Requires skills including database development and management, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and the ability to utilize data to enhance business processes.           
  • Requires a valid and acceptable driver’s license and US passport and the ability to travel independently and overnight.
  • Occasionally required to lift 20 lbs. and climb ladders.
  • Occasionally exposed to extreme weather conditions and contact with chemicals and dust using personal protective equipment where required.
  • Required to work extended hours as needed.
  • Requires ability to maintain complete confidentiality.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
