PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
The Data Governance Analyst role will lead and promote a data governance program in GROWMARK. They will act as a champion to drive best practices on improving data quality, data access, and establish processes for measuring and documenting our organization’s data assets.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
This role will build from the ground up the data rules and governance required for our data and will provide direction to help build and implement policies, procedures, and standards as well as define our critical data domains.
Establish data governance board and committees; help data governance board with identifying critical data elements and policies (and the tradeoffs within) for the governance program including executive sponsorship and oversight of governance policy creation and compliance
Translate strategic initiatives and projects into data governance requirements.
Coordinate and facilitate discussions to build and maintain data standards, procedures, and policies across all critical data domains.
Responsible for providing direction on all facets of the data governance discipline and providing hands-on support, partnering with business stakeholders and IT teams.
Identify technical tools and best practices to enable governance, measure enterprise data quality, and develop action plans to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of our enterprise data with the necessary standards.
Develop data governance strategies to manage activities and initiatives of the data governance program including outlining responsible parties and governance activities on data domains and subdomains levels.
Collaborates with IT and business teams serving as a central point of contact to address data management and data governance needs by domain.
Develop and foster a community of data stewards by providing guidance, advocacy, and support.
Represent the enterprise to customers, suppliers, and external bodies in the development of industry data and analytics standards. Ensure that appropriate audit controls exist for data and analytics that serve as the source material for regulatory reports.
Provides mentorship and formal training within or outside of the team to increase data literacy.
Establish data governance quality metrics, create a data governance dashboard, and communicate data governance program initiatives and outcomes.
Develop and maintain strong business relationships with the functional, divisional, and regional teams.
Responsible for the coordination of resources necessary to train current and new users on data governance policies and standards.
Responsible for providing end-users access to needed data and data management-supported applications in collaboration with other user access leads.
Develops new data processes and strategies that result in greater GROWMARK system integration related to data at member cooperatives and divisions within GROWMARK.
Collaborate with internal audit to assess the proposed data privacy policies, framework and controls, and broader data privacy objectives.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

REQUIREMENTS
Normally requires a bachelor’s degree in information systems, accounting, or business, or the equivalent thereof, and 10 years or more of related work experience to demonstrate applications working knowledge to provide computer software recommendations, support, and leadership.
2+ years of experience in the data industry with knowledge of defining and implementing data governance best practices, documenting data flow & process mapping.
Experience working with metadata and cataloging solutions (Informatica, Alation, Colibra, Purview)
Experience with Agile project management principles and tools
Familiarity with modern data platforms (AWS preferred)
Preferred understanding of Agvance and GROWMARK’s SAP system and how the various applications interface and interact with one another.
Technical understanding of data sources, integrations, and flows within the data ecosystem.
Excellent organizational skills and focus on attention to detail.
Deep data governance knowledge and data operational skills like data cataloging, data lineage, data quality, and policy creation.
Ability to provide technical support, resource management, and training to new and existing users.
Demonstrated planning, organization, analytical, diagnostic, problem-solving, and project management skills and the ability to read and interpret technical material.
Proven team-building skills and the ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Proven computer skills and the ability to use the computer to enhance business processes.
Must have the ability to travel independently and overnight as necessary.
Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision-making, and skill development.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record and passport.
Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
