PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

Works directly with management, sales staff and the grain systems construction operation foreman to direct the daily activities of the grain system service personell to accomplish tasks in a safe, timely, and productive manner, providing a positive service experience for our patrons.

 

 

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP

 

Provides supervision and leadership for the grain system service personnel.

 

Ability to train grain system service personnel on proper service techniques, construction and safety methods.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Works with grain system service personell and leads all grain system service work from start to finish.  

 

Services existing equipment, diagnoses mechanical and electrical issues and performs service on existing equipment by replacing defective parts. 

 

When service work demand is high, communicates with the grain system construction operations foreman to generate extra labor resources and ask for help with other needs.

 

Works with and comminucates with the grain system construction operation foreman when service work demand is low and during peak construction season to help meet contracted project deadlines.

 

Keeps an up to date schedule for grain system service work and communicates that with management, sales staff, and our patrons.

 

Serves as the main contact for our patrons for all grain system service work and communicates effectively with them in a timely manner from the initial contact to the final completion of the repair. 

 

Ensures all required information about service calls are recorded online and/or on a service card.
 

Informs patrons upon completion of service work to inform them the work is complete and what repairs were made.

 

Keeps accurate service work records and strives to complete service work in the most efficient way reducing wasted man hours and generating more billable man hours. 

 

Completes daily crew logs with accurate information for management and sales staff in a timely manner.

 

Works with the sales staff to ensure materials are ordered correctly and will arrive in time to meet the expectations of our patrons.

 

Ability to properly use hand and power tools, climb ladders, and measure and square projects without direct supervision.

  

Assemble machines and bolt, weld, cut, rivet, or otherwise fasten them to foundations or other structures, using proper tools and equipment.

  

Signals crane operator to place assemblies and align units.

  

Interprets sales contracts, construction plans, and material lists to ensure projects are completed to specifications.

 

Able to use necessary equipment to complete projects and instruct personnel on proper use of the following equipment:

  • Forklifts & Telehandlers
  • Skid Steers
  • Trencher
  • Scissor & Boom Lifts
  • Hydraulic jacks
  • Various power tools 

 

Keep clean and safe job sites.

 

Keeps material inventory and extra materials from projects organized and put away in warehouse and storage areas.

 

Responsible for all crew truck tools and maintenance of equipment related to the grain system service personell and projects.

 

Performs necessary maintenance on trucks and equipment and keeps maintenance records.

 

Assists with the general maintenance and upkeep of the department facility. 

 

Works with the management and sales staff to come up with a solutions and complete warranty repairs as they arise minimizing company expense while providing a positive experience and best solution for our patrons.

 

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

 

When necessary, helps out with other projects not related to grain systems such as building projects and Pontiac projects.

 

Responsible for approving direct report timecards and performing performance reviews.

 

Attend company and department meetings and training programs.

 

Willingness to participate in ongoing education or training to build knowledge in welding and electrical trades.

 

Responsible for encouraging, supporting, and promoting innovative practices, ideas, and technologies within the team.

 

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

 

Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Normally requires a high school diploma, or the equivalent thereof, and 3 years or more experience building farm grain bins and related equipment to demonstrate knowledge of construction and leadership skills.

 

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

 

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, and the ability to obtain a CDL license within the first 6 months of employment.

 

Previous foreman experience on a grain system crew preferred.

 

Basic electrical knowledge preferred.

 

Must work well in a team environment and with our patrons. 

 

Continuously exposed or required to:

  • Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.)
  • Noisy conditions
  • Working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures
  • Work at varying heights
  • Confined spaces
  • Lift 71-100 lbs
  • Push heavy objects.

 

Ability to work hours other than those considered normal to meet seasonal demands.

 

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
