PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Advises GROWMARK and the FS System on risk management practices and assists in determining their insurance needs.
SUPERVISION & LEADERSHIP
Leads the Risk Finance & Insurance team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible for on-site visits to GROWMARK and the FS System to advise general managers and other personnel on their insurance coverages and risk management needs, oversee property surveys, and review property valuations.
Develop an in-depth understanding of property and casualty lines of coverage to answer questions and build or improve a risk transfer framework.
Monitor, analyze, and manage complex claims while supervising the Claim Consultant’s caseload. Collaborate with Safety & Environmental Services to develop loss prevention programs based on claim trends. Help establish retention levels in the various insurance programs.
Review contracts for insurance requirements and recommend insurance policies or changes in contracts as needed. Oversee preparation of certificates of insurance to meet contract requirements.
Maintain and update records needed for insurance policy renewals and prepare renewal applications and submission materials. Participate in underwriting meetings with carriers and internal stakeholders.
Negotiate insurance premiums and policy language for property and casualty insurance, marketing the policies as needed.
Oversee implementation of business recovery plans for the FS System.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Give presentations to different audiences across the FS System about insurance and risk management best practices.
Follow GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.
Encourage, support, and promote innovative practices, ideas, and technologies within the team.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Requires a bachelor’s degree with a major emphasis in insurance, business, finance or equivalent and at least 10 years of advanced commercial property/casualty insurance related experience.
Master’s degree or higher level of education is preferred.
Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
Requires an Illinois Property/Casualty Insurance Agent’s license and other states as requested or the ability to obtain.
An Illinois Health Producer’s License may be required.
CPCU, ARM, CIC or other professional insurance designation is required. If this is not possessed at the time of hire, candidates may be given twelve (12) months to obtain a designation.
Requires advanced understanding and experience with evaluating insurance exposures, risk finance, claims analysis, data collection and management, and mathematical skills.
Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making, and skill development.
Insurance agency, brokerage or insurance company experience is preferred. Knowledge of the GROWMARK system is preferred.
Requires proven professional communication, persuasion, presentation, and customer service skills.
Requires demonstrated analytical, planning, organization, problem-solving, critical thinking, time management, leadership, and attention to detail skills.
Requires team building skills and ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Requires the ability to lead a team of insurance professionals, helping them as needed while motivating and inspiring them.
Requires computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook. Prior experience with Riskonnect or other RMIS system is preferred.
Requires a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving history with ability to travel independently and overnight.
Occasionally exposed to extreme weather conditions and contact with chemicals and/or dust which requires use of personal protective equipment.
May be required to work extended hours.
Requires ability to maintain complete confidentiality.
Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include, but is not limited to, education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional insurance or leadership training as it relates to the requirements of the position.

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and commissions.
