PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Responsible for the monitoring and response to regulatory issues and the coordination of communications, research, and events on legislative and regulatory efforts impacting the GROWMARK/FS System.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Coordinates the GROWMARK/FS System response to regulatory issues, including researching and drafting formal comments and correspondence, meeting and communicating with regulatory agencies, building consensus with industry trade associations, collaborating with regulatory compliance personnel across the System, and providing education to the System on regulatory changes.

Plans and coordinates System fly-ins to Washington, DC, including interacting with congressional offices to arrange legislative meetings for employees, leadership and members.

Maintains and develops internal and external resources utilized by the Government Relations Division and the System, including priorities, fact sheets, reference materials, databases, etc.

Facilitates System grassroots advocacy efforts, including action requests and GOTV efforts.

Develops, drafts, and edits congressional and association correspondence for the Government Relations Division.

Supports Government Relations Division communication efforts, including contributing to the division’s newsletter and other published communications.

Presents at System events and meetings.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Normally requires a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Political Science or Communications, or related experience demonstrating government affairs knowledge and business writing skills.

Normally requires knowledge and understanding of federal and state government, contemporary political issues, and public policy formation, along with business writing skills and the ability to research, comprehend, interpret, summarize, and draft formal comments and correspondence on complex regulatory and legislative issues.

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision-making, and skill development.

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Proven professional communication, public speaking, interpersonal, and customer service skills and the ability to build relationships with external trade associations and government agencies.

Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work under time limitations with “attention to detail” skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Proven computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and the ability to use of the Internet for research purposes.

Ability to work hours beyond those considered normal to meet the demands of the position.

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law.  In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and commissions.
