PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Under the supervision of IT Management, Project Technical Leads, or Lead Engineers, performs application development and data engineering activities for business information systems, with emphasis on supporting existing products and implementing new features. This role includes maintenance of current systems and limited assignments in application analysis, design, and new product development while working collaboratively with senior team members to ensure system reliability.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Analyzes, develops, and implements defects and enhancements as assigned by Product Owners, Project Technical Leads, or Lead Engineers, ensuring solutions meet specified requirements and quality standards.

Develops and modifies business applications and data platform solutions according to specifications using established programming languages, tools, and best practices. 

Performs thorough unit testing of implemented changes, collaborates with functional and business analysts, and supports user acceptance testing to ensure quality of deliverables. 

Maintains existing products through bug fixes, updates, and performance improvements while adhering to requirements. 

Develops solutions with a focus on self-service capabilities, enabling users to troubleshoot and resolve common issues independently.

Assists in designing and implementing software solutions, ensuring quality standards, and resolving issues across various business systems and applications.

Provides regular status updates on assigned work, communicates blockers, and escalates complex issues appropriately to leadership. 

Supports deployment activities, system maintenance, and production support issues, and is available to respond promptly during critical system downtimes to ensure rapid recovery and continuity.

Participates in code reviews, team meetings, and knowledge sharing sessions to support professional development and team collaboration.

Applies knowledge and practical skills in project management, including Agile methodologies, to effectively support the planning, execution, and delivery of projects.

Provides guidance and support to interns and newer developers on fundamental tasks while actively promoting team collaboration through open communication and cooperative engagement.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Maintains and updates technical documentation for implemented solutions and existing products that are supported by them.

Learns and applies system analysis and design strategies as directed and as necessary.

Develops and maintains a good working relationship with other technical personnel, business partners and stakeholders.

Works with leadership to prioritize and then manage multiple assignments accordingly.

Provides regular, timely, and accurate reporting and status updates to Product Owners, Project Technical Leads, or Lead Engineers, as needed.

Maintains awareness of new and emerging technologies and methodologies. Provides management with recommendations for expanded awareness or adoption when new tools or methods are warranted or beneficial. 

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Normally requires a college degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or Data Science/Analytics, or the equivalent thereof, and up to 3 years of related work experience.

Understanding and experience with information technology-related areas including information systems programming, development, testing, and support; policies and procedures, and compliance.

Continuous efforts to understand and learn new technologies as defined by IT management including demonstration of proficiency. 

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Proven ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Be available to receive after hours support calls as needed.

Must have a valid driver’s license with the ability to work extended hours and travel independently overnight.

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law.  In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and commissions.
